MN Green Path Leadership Award recipients inspire us with their innovation, passion, and commitment to building and remodeling energy-efficient and sustainable homes. Awards are presented at the annual Housing First Minnesota Building Industry Gala (BIG Night).

 
 

 
 

MN Green Path Leadership Award Recipients

2023: Lucid Builders

As an Energy Star Builder and Green Path Builder since 2014, Lucid Builders has shown a strong commitment to sustainable building practices with the completion of 18 residences with pending Energy Star Certification. One recent home completed in Deephaven included 100% LED lighting, water sense plumbing, Energy Star Appliances, and a dedicated electric car charger.


2022: McDonald Design | Build | Renovate

McDonald Design | Build | Renovate continues to lead the way in the Twin Cities with advancements in green building techniques. As part of their building process, they discuss the green building process with all clients. McDonald built the first Minnesota Green Star home and members of their leadership team have served as active participants in the Minnesota Green Path program since it began. McDonald is a Designated Green Path Builder and is building a net-zero Green Path Master Certified home in 2022 for completion in 2023.


2021: Greenhalo Builds

GreenHalo Builds’ vision is to create Zero Energy Ready villages and homes for Twin Cities’ families seeking sustainable and environmentally conscious housing. GreenHalo homes are constructed to exacting standards using sustainable materials with an eye toward resource conservation. Every home ensures its family clean indoor air, exceptional energy efficiency, low-maintenance upkeep, plus the tools to achieve a Zero Energy Ready home and remove the financial burden of recurring energy costs altogether. GreenHalo Builds’ first neighborhood near downtown Stillwater consists of 14 homesites that showcase affordable, environmentally sensitive and healthy homes.


2019: Robert Thomas Homes, Inc.

Robert Thomas Homes champions innovation to build homes with energy efficiency and sustainability in mind. They have been an active member of the Minnesota Green Path Committee and an active participant in Minnesota Green Path initiatives. As one of the first Minnesota Green Path Designated builders, Robert Thomas Homes is committed to testing 100% of its homes and expect to achieve 1,000 energy tested homes by the end of 2019.


2018: Brandl Anderson Homes, Inc.

There is an undeniably tight correlation between how a home is built and how it impacts the environment. From the materials used in construction to the appliances that will consume power well into the future, a healthier planet depends on a smarter, energy-efficient home. Brandl Anderson has been committed to MN Green Path, both by serving on its committee, and has been a leader in following the Green Path producing homes with a HERs score average less than 50.


2017: Sustainable 9 Design Build

Sustainable 9 Design Build is a Twin Cities-based building and remodeling company that focuses on bringing environmentally friendly green homes to the marketplace. They have been bringing properties to the market across the Twin Cities in an environmentally friendly manner. Their focus is to create healthy and energy-efficient homes by using products that are virtually free of toxins and that meet the highest standards of quality and energy efficiency.


2016: Michels Homes

Michels Homes has been passionately building and remodeling homes with energy efficiency and green in mind for years. They believe that the homes they build should use energy and resources efficiently and responsibly. In addition, company president, Bob Michels, has been actively involved on the Green Path and Green Path Technical committees since Minnesota's Green Path was created in 2011.


2015: JMS Custom Homes, LLC

JMS Custom Homes was selected for their work in building Eden Gardens in Eden Prairie. This 36-home, single-family development, consisting of Advanced Green Path Certified Homes, is a “Green” Community full of energy-efficient features. JMS has been a leader in sustainability and energy-efficient construction. Their strategy has been to help lower the overall cost of home ownership by building energy-efficient homes that help conserve energy for generations to come. Eden Gardens is an impressive example of that!
